CARTER PASSATA FESTIVAL PROMISES A VINE TIME FOR ALLLearn Italian traditions in Sydney with a day of harvesting, bottling and dining
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With tomatoes the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with tomatoes the moss'd cottage-plants
And fill all tomatoes with ripeness to the core;
(Apologies to Keats)
As Autumn draws near, it is time to think of stocking the pantry in preparation for the winter months. The Culinary Interludes team is once again celebrating the Carter Passata Festival of the Tomato, with the opportunity to learn some traditional Italian bottling secrets, share a relaxed lunch and some wine with new friends and take home half a dozen bottles of Carter Passata – all for just $50 per person.
The masters of Italian cooking holidays, Culinary Interludes invite you to a day of a traditional Mediterranean customs celebrating Autumn. Help them prepare their harvest of plump, juicy, old-fashioned tomatoes for bottling and then preserve them in the traditional way so that you can be sustained with memories of summer sunshine in the cold, bleak months ahead.
You will learn the authentic ways of cucina povera (peasant cooking). Come prepared to experience the sounds, smells and flavours of Italy right here in Sydney. This is a hands-on, practical demonstration of an ancient traditional gastronomy.
When the work is done you will relax with a typical peasant meal: pasta con sugo, pane, insalata and of course….vino.
