CULINARY INTERLUDES IN AUSTRALIA  Posted on - Thursday, June 16, 2011

Sometimes life is too busy to fit in a total immersion in a Tuscan culinary experience. And yet you may be yearning still for a little touch of Italy to remind you of pleasant times shared, or give you a hint of what is to come in future holidays.

When a visit to a favourite Italian restaurant or the purchase of yet another Italian cookbook doesn’t quite do it for you then consider what Culinary Interludes can provide without the cost of an airfare.

What is life without passata?

Each autumn Culinary Interludes runs passata making classes in Sydney’s inner west.  Using the traditional methods dating pack centuries you too can learn how to turn juicy and flavoursome Australian tomatoes into that wonderful staple that has always sustained nonna’s family over the cold winter months.  Our passata is made from pure and natural ingredients – sun kissed scented tomatoes, some basil and a lot of squashing.

It’s not all work however.  We make time for you to enjoy a typical lunch – cucina povera, and sample some wines from various regions.

At the end of it all you take home a box or two of your own homemade passata  for the pantry.  Delicious as a pizza topping, in your ragu, pappa al pomodoro or whatever takes your fancy.  See our recipe section for great ideas.

Tuscany in the Hunter

We also run cooking classes at Millfield in the Hunter Valley.  We can lead you and a group of friends through the basics of preparing a four course lunch and then enjoy the fruits of our labour al fresco overlooking the hills of the Wattagan Mountains and Pokolbin.  We have a range of menus on offer or if you prefer we can arrange with you to showcase some of your personal favourites.

Cooking classes and dinner parties in your own home

Culinary Interludes offers personalised cooking classes for groups in your own home.  We can suggest menus and dishes or discuss your personalised needs and preferences.

If sitting down to good food, good company and some fine wines is more to your liking then we can cater your dinner party for you and leave you to enjoy the company of your guests.

Why not let us guide you through the preparation of your own dinner party for parties of up to 12.  We will take you and your friends (up to six) to the markets to buy the key ingredients.  The rest of the afternoon is spent creating a four course dinner.  Invite up to twelve people for a night to remember.  You will have the confidence to invite guests into your home for future events.
